San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed reporters during a Monday conference call, delivering multiple injury updates that could significantly impact the team in these final two games of the season. The offensive line suffered setbacks during Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, losing left guard Aaron Banks and left tackle Jaylon Moore.

"Aaron Bank has an MCL," Shanahan shared. "He'll be out these out these next two games. Jaylon Moore, a quad strain. He'll also miss our last two games."

In addition, Shanahan noted that guard Spencer Burford experienced calf soreness after the game.

"We're still waiting for him to get back from the MRI, so I don't have an official thing on that yet," he added.

Trent Williams done for the season

Shanahan confirmed that All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams will not return this season as he continues to battle an ankle injury that has sidelined him for five consecutive games.

"He won't be playing in these next two games," Shanahan stated. "... He hasn't been able to improve enough to get him out there, and we don't see that happening enough in these two weeks, especially with the situation we're in."

Dre Greenlaw may be shut down

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw's season may also come to an early end. Greenlaw, who recently returned from an Achilles injury, reported soreness in his right calf after Sunday's game. Shanahan admitted the team is leaning toward shutting him down for the remainder of the season.

"My gut is most likely that he'll end up being shut down, but I gotta wait to talk to Dre on that," Shanahan explained. "And we'll still make sure to see exactly how he is doing because, right now, we just have it as just soreness and stuff. But that'll definitely be a decision that I'll leave up to Dre, depending on what his health is."

Shanahan acknowledged the delicate balance between caution and the potential benefits of Greenlaw playing in the final two games.

"It's also good interest for Dre to get out there and play for him also if he is healthy and can do it," Shanahan said. "So there's a fine line in that. And I told Dre this, just even after that Rams game, talking with him. He was telling me, 'Don't worry, I'll be for sure good the next week.' That's how bad he wants to go, because it is a good thing when a player is coming back from an injury to be able to show the league you got back, and you're good to go.

"But by no means doing that at the expense of messing up the next year. So, that's something that Dre understands, but his passion and his heart really wants to get out there. But that's why I say that I'm leaning towards no, but I got to get more information on that to make sure that that's the right decision for Dre."

Isaac Guerendo expected to return

On a positive note, rookie running back Isaac Guerendo, who missed Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, is on track to return to practice Thursday.

"He'll still be day-to-day with his hamstring, but it's turned in the right direction, and hopefully, he'll be good on Thursday," Shanahan noted.

Other updates

Safety Ji'Ayir Brown suffered an ankle injury and is considered day-to-day. Linebacker Dee Winters is also day-to-day with a chest injury.
