The San Francisco 49ers have re-signed guard Ben Bartch to a one-year deal, preventing him from hitting free agency on March 12. The versatile lineman remains with the team for 2025.
It's a one-year deal for Bartch, 26, who figures to be a candidate to start if LG Aaron Banks leaves in free agency. https://t.co/8QZGhY3AtB
Bartch (6-6, 315) is among the few NFL players to emerge from Division III football. He played college football at Saint John's University in Minnesota, where he began his career as a tight end before transitioning to the offensive line.
Bartch's standout performance at Saint John's earned him an invitation to the Senior Bowl, where he competed against top-tier talent from larger programs. His strong showing solidified his NFL draft stock, leading the Jacksonville Jaguars to select him in the fourth round (No. 116 overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The San Francisco 49ers signed Bartch off the Jaguars' practice squad on November 21, 2023. Since joining the 49ers, he has appeared in eight games, including two starts. However, his 2024 season was cut short when he was placed on injured reserve due to a high-ankle sprain.
Bartch has appeared in 49 games with 22 starts over his five NFL seasons, per Pro Football Reference.
