According to his agency, former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nick McCloud is signing with the Chicago Bears. McCloud was an unrestricted free agent.
McCloud (6-1, 193) joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Buffalo Bills on May 13, 2021. Over his four-year career, he played in 40 games (16 starts) with the Cincinnati Bengals (2021) and New York Giants (2022-24) before signing with the 49ers' practice squad on November 11.
In 2024, McCloud played seven games (five starts) with the Giants before joining the 49ers, tallying 13 tackles, one pass defensed, and one special teams tackle before being released on November 5.
McCloud was active for eight games with the 49ers, recording 11 tackles while contributing primarily on special teams. He has registered 96 tackles, including three for a loss, an interception, 1.5 sacks, 10 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries over his NFL career, per Pro Football Reference.
A 26-year-old native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, McCloud played college football at North Carolina State University (2016-19) and the University of Notre Dame (2020).
