In the third quarter of the 49ers' loss to the Giants on Oct. 11, running back Carlos Hyde came up limping after linebacker J.T. Thomas jumped on his back to break up a pass.Hyde, whose left leg was pinned awkwardly on the incompletion, stayed in the game, but he dropped a short pass on the next play and gimped to the sideline.Hyde stayed upright against the Giants, missed just one play and finished with 45 yards on 9 carries and a 2-yard touchdown in the final 16 minutes.On Thursday, CBS Sports sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson said Hyde told her he had a stress fracture.Hyde didn't deny he had a stress fracture after a 20-3 loss to the Seahawks, saying he had "something like that," when asked about the report.Since head coach Jim Tomsula had previously said Hyde had a sore foot, the more serious nature of his injury has raised questions:Could Hyde, 24, who ranks third in the NFL in rushing in his first season as a starter, sustain serious damage to his foot if he continues to play?Dr. Ken Jung, an ankle and foot surgeon at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, answered those questions in general terms because he doesn't know the specifics of Hyde's injury.Jung said...
