Thinner 49ers RT Anthony Davis carrying less baggage

Aug 7, 2016 at 9:31 PM

Slimmed-down Anthony Davis didn't only undergo a physical transformation before he returned to the NFL. There were questions about how Davis would fit in the locker room after he left the team in June 2015 to let his "brain and body heal" following an injury plagued season that included his first concussion. During his brief retirement, Davis criticized well-respected left tackle Joe Staley on Twitter before slamming the team's front office in late April. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about it," Kilgore said. Because you're curious to see where somebody is as far as their state of mind after taking that time off. Ever since he walked in the door - from his appearance when he walked in the locker room, his involvement in the meeting room, he's willing to get better on the practice field. Davis, who began training camp as a third-stringer, has moved to the second-string offensive line. The No. 11 pick in 2010, he made 64 straight starts to begin his career before he messed the 2014 season opener.
